About Rebecca Rowe
Rebecca Rowe is a visionary composer and conductor, passionate about bringing contemporary music to new audiences in ways that are challenging yet accessible, experimental yet deeply human. Her work transcends the boundaries of traditional concert experiences, often involving interdisciplinary collaborations with artists, filmmakers, poets, and writers.
With a background in orchestral, chamber, choral, and film music, Rebecca’s compositions have been performed by acclaimed ensembles such as the Dunedin Consort, Cappella Nova, the Hilliard Ensemble, and the Allegri String Quartet. Her musical journey began as a pianist and cellist in South Yorkshire and evolved into a celebrated career in composition and conducting, earning her an MMus in Composition from the University of Edinburgh.
As a founding member of The Squair Mile Consort of Viols and a former Artistic Director of the Edinburgh University Contemporary Music Ensemble, Rebecca brings a depth of experience and a fresh perspective to every performance. Whether scoring for animated films, collaborating with poets, or conducting contemporary ensembles, her work is defined by curiosity, creativity, and emotional resonance.
