Wines from the Veneto and the north of Italy

The Veneto, which boasts Venice as its capital – a city of culture, arts and Carnival, is also an important wine region of Italy. The Veneto can lay claim to some of Italy’s finest wines (e.g. Amarone) and some of its most popular (e.g Prosecco). Apart from Veneto, some of Italy’s finest wines are produced in the North, with many not well known in the UK.

This is an opportunity to taste some fine examples of wines from across northern Italy and to experience the amazing range of styles, aromas, flavours that this extensive area can offer. It stretches from the Alps in the north, down to just beyond the Po Valley to the south, and encompasses a huge variety of terrains, elevations and local climates, which provide suitable growing environments for a vast variety of grapes.

In this tasting it is planned to include some well-known wines, such as a huge Amarone Classico from Veneto and a mellow Barbara d’Asti from Piedmont plus some little known wines such as a luscious Albana Secco DOCG rich, dry white wine from Emilia Romagna.
